Hi there!
I'm Evonne, a miniature artist specialising in handmade bobbin lace and tiny teddy bears. I'd love to help bring joy and beauty to your life by making quality items for you to decorate your dollhouse with or teach you how to make them for yourself. Take a little time out to refill your tank with a fun and fascinating hobby...
How it all began
Many moons ago, sometime in the year 2000, I succumbed to a love of hand stitching wee little bears. A few years later I began the adventure that is selling them. My little business changed shape a time or two as other friends and relations were added to the happy menagerie. Meanwhile the bears got tinier and tinier.
Looking for a unique way to dress them, I stumbled across a curious craft known as bobbin lace. Beautiful and intricately delicate stuff; made as it was before machines were invented to do so. I took one look at the many bobbins and multitude of pins on the lace pillow, deciding then and there it wasn’t for me. Happily a lady kindly talked me into giving it a go and since 2014 I have also yielded to the addiction that is lace making.
A miniature world
While I love to dabble in all sorts of creativity, miniatures have long fascinated me. Initially I wasn't too sure about getting into tiny real estate, content to just make bears and lace for those who were, but decided that I should at least have a go at one wee dwelling. Several houses later it's fair to say I'm loving it and there are no plans to stop any time soon.
What's in a name
Myrtle is a beautiful bush growing in my back garden. Planted for sentimental reasons. It's also a ladies name with a vintage touch - just how I like things to be. Pretty things, a nod to yesteryear, and all in miniature - sounds like an amazing combination, don't you think?
... and Eve, of course, is me.
